After over 15 years of service Doug Waters, the chairman of trustees, is stepping down from the LYP board. As a co-founder of LYP, Doug was instrumental in setting up the charity in 2002. He was on the first board of trustees, putting in years of ground work in the community, and employed our very first youth worker in 2005.
Since then LYP has grown to a team of 8 permanent staff supporting young people daily in Leatherhead, Bookham and across Mole Valley with relational youth work, projects, one to one counselling, mentoring and our social enterprise AllSaints Coffee shop. Doug has played a central part in shaping and developing LYP into the organisation it is today.
Doug is our longest serving volunteer and has supported many of our projects for the past 15 years. He has also been an active fundraiser and even cycled across the width of the country with a team to raise funds, (not quite the ends of the Earth, Doug). As the Chairman of Trustees, Doug has provided key strategy and leadership to the organisation.
Doug has a heart for supporting local young people and providing opportunities for them to be safe, happy and to flourish in life. Thanks to Doug’s commitment, LYP has been able to support 1000’s of local young people to make positive changes in their lives since 2005.
We thank Doug for his long service and wish him and Caroline all the best for the future, starting with a month traveling around New Zealand!
