Our Into the Wild project gives young people the opportunity to experience the outdoors and discover the positive impact spending time in nature can have on their mental health. Throughout June, a group of young people took part in an orienteering training day, a mountain trek in Wales and a self-led expedition in the Surrey Hills.

The young people had a great weekend hiking in Wales, exploring the Brecon Beacons. In the Surrey Hills they navigated a 10 mile hike and wild camped in hammocks overnight. The young people also kept journals to write down what they had noticed in the wild spaces around them and reflect on their thoughts and feelings from taking part in this experience.

By completing Into the Wild, the young people have also received the John Muir Discovery Award.

A huge thank you to the Leatherhead Lions who funded our Into the Wild project.
